The mission of Mt Baldy School, a nurturing and unique mountain community, is to ensure our students a dynamic educational experience. By fostering creativity and critical thinking we equip the whole child to lead and thrive in an ever-changing world.
Welcome to the 2013-14 School Year!
Greetings Mt Baldy students, parents, and community,
I am very excited about the start of the school year and the possibilities this year brings. I believe we have improved the school in many ways and I would like to brag about some of them.
First of all, we recently hired a new PE teacher. Mandy Sedia will be joining us three days a week, working with each classroom on an individual basis.Mandy received her degree from the University of La Verne, in Movement and Sports Science. She is very excited to begin teaching here, and you can read more about her in the teacher web pages.
We also have a new board member, Paul Hannosh. Paul has toured the school, visited with the staff, and had his first board meeting on August 22. He teaches at a middle school and I believe he will be a great resource for our school community.
Preliminary STAR results are in and show that Mt Baldy students are at the top in San Bernardino County. Nearly 80% of our students are proficient or higher in all of the tested areas. Thank you, parents, for providing us with these great kids to work with. The STAR testing system has been in place for over 10 years now and will be evolving over the next several years due to the transition to the Common Core Standards. Our staff has been training extensively with these new standards and will speak more about them at Back-to-School Night and during parent conferences.
Our facilities have been upgraded in several areas, including the track, kitchen and garden areas. The teachers and aides are all ready to begin instruction, the office staff and I are learning a new attendance and grade reporting system, Coach Ron will continue to work and support the track team, and Lizzie is hard at work setting up field trips and electives.
We look forward to seeing you all soon!
Our school is accountable to parents through the School Accountability Report Card, STAR, and California's Common Core Standards. Standing for "Standard Testing and Reporting," STAR is transitioning to California's Common Core Standards, but the results for 2012-13 are in the attachment below.
State testing (STAR) results for the 2012-13 school year are in and ours are the highest in the County!
Mt Baldy Parent Portal
We recently created a parent portal with Aeries company. This portal allows our parents to go online and view their child’s grades.
